We are searching for "unreasonable" men and women.

Consider a story told about two men: the reasonable man and the unreasonable man. The reasonable man spent all his time trying to live a lifestyle that “fit in” with the world around him. He went about his day attempting to “be normal” by watching others.

The other man, the unreasonable one, daily refused to settle for “normal” routines and habits. People couldn’t help but notice as this man challenged himself and the status quo. People started to follow his lead. Rather than conforming to the world, the unreasonable man changed the world.

As freshman at a small liberal arts university in Virginia, we learned that many people, ourselves included, were on the dreary path of living like “reasonable” men. This became obvious as we realized that we were getting stuck in the same routines every weekend. Some of our friends found it most comfortable to stay in their dorm room and watch a movie. Others followed the upperclassmen to the bars to drink and party. Others became anxious with work and spent the extra hours in the library. Although we didn’t look down on any of these choices, we desired something more exciting, we wanted to meet people and remember who they were the next day, and we wanted a break from the books…

That’s how this whole thing started. After explaining our idea to the dean and making a pitch for some money and a van, The GO CO was born. By the third year of existence we have received quadruple the funding, trained 11 student leaders and adventured with over 100 college students.  On these adventures we have searched for wood to make fires, constructed shelters to stay dry, trudged through waterfalls, taken cha-cha lessons, built river rafts and carved baseball bats, played homerun derby and football, challenged ourselves to cook gourmet meals over the open fire, explored deserted beaches, and hiked to distant mountain peaks.

Now we are looking for unreasonable men and women to inspire their peers across New England to live this adventure with us.
